Bentley Brings Back Classic 1930s Leather Look by Bridge of Weir to Its Newest Models

Bentley is bringing a slice of its past into the present with a new leather option that feels like the 1930s but is made for today. The company has introduced Heritage Leather, first created by its Mulliner division for classic car.

This unique leather is supplied by Bridge of Weir and brings an old-school touch with a two-tone finish and a special haircell grain.

It’s currently available in two classic colors straight from Bentley’s history books, Ox Blood Red and Parsons Napier Green.

To show off this new option, Bentley built a new fourth-generation Continental GT Mulliner with Heritage Leather.

This car was designed to match the look of the Speed Six from the 1930s. Even though the cars are almost a century apart, they both wear the same Bedford Grey exterior and Ox Blood red interior.

During the revival of the Blower model, this special leather was chosen because it offered the perfect mix of comfort and durability. Bentley tested it to make sure it lived up to the standards of their modern vehicles.

The design team also dug into archives at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu to find original 1920s and 1930s color choices. These classic shades add authenticity and keep the historic connection strong.

Bentley pointed out that many older models from the Cricklewood era still have their original leather. That’s because leather doesn’t fall apart it simply grows richer with age.

Back in the day, leather was treated with natural oils or wax to get a glossy look. Mulliner has worked with its suppliers to bring back this finish and even add subtle shades to mimic the look of well-aged leather.

Bridge of Weir has been around for more than 100 years and is known for making the world’s lowest carbon leather. They use fully traceable, responsibly sourced materials and a circular manufacturing process that results in just 8kg CO2e per square meter.

Bentley says it takes sustainability seriously. The company ensures that all its suppliers follow strict rules on water, energy, waste, and chemical use. Leather remains a favorite for Bentley not just for its style and comfort, but also for its long life.
