China Leather Garment Exports Rise 45.6% to $49.4 Million in January-May 2026

China’s leather garment exports reached $49.4 million in the first 5 months of 2026 between January and May 2026, thats an increase of 45.6% compared with the same period last year, according to the latest data released by the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA).

The latest figures show that China exported approximately $10.82 million worth of leather garments in May 2026 alone. This compares with $38.60 million recorded during the January-April period.

Leather garment imports totalled $51.6 million between January and May 2026, up 28.5% year-on-year.

Imports during May 2026 stood at approximately $8.7 million, compared with $42.9 million recorded during the first four months of the year.

The latest trade data shows that both exports and imports of China’s leather garment sector continued to record strong year-over-year growth during the first 5 months of 2026.

China’s leather industry, which includes the leather, footwear, leather garments, bags and cases sectors, recorded exports worth $32.75 billion and imports of $6.41 billion between January and May 2026. Exports declined 6.6% YoY basis while imports increased 3.2%.
