Irshad Ahmed Mecca, Managing Director of Farida Shoes Private Limited, Arcot Soles Private Limited, Farida Leather Ware Limited and Farida Shoes Pvt Ltd – Palms Unit and Vice President of the Indian Shoe Federation (ISF), passed away on 22 May 2026.

He was the son of Padma Shri Rafeeque Ahmed Mecca, Chairman of Farida Group, which comprises 11 subsidiaries.

According to multiple sources, Irshad Ahmed Mecca had been in critical condition for the past few months after reportedly meeting with a horse riding accident.

Members of the global leather and footwear industry are mourning his loss across social media, with many industry professionals, business associates and friends sharing their memories and experiences of working with him over the years.

Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayers) will be held on 23-05-2026, Saturday after Zuhar Salah (Afternoon Prayer), after between 12.30 – 1.30 pm at Anjuman-E-Himayath-E-Islam Masjid, T. Nagar, Chennai.

The burial will reportedly take place at Masjid-e-Abdul Ali, Thandavarayan Street, near Tana Street, Purasaiwakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600007.
