Luxury brand Hermès is expanding its leather goods production once more. This time, the company plans to open a new leather workshop in Colombelles in the Normandy region of France.
The new site is expected to be operational by 2028. Once fully running, it will employ 260 skilled artisans.
This move supports the growing demand for Hermès’ leather goods collections and strengthens its commitment to traditional craftsmanship.
This facility will be the brand’s tenth leather workshop and is part of its broader strategy to increase production.
It also joins three other projects currently underway in L’Isle d’Espagnac, Loupes, and Charleville-Mézières.
To train and hire the artisans, Hermès will rely on its own school École Hermès des savoir-faire which has been an official apprenticeship center since 2021.
Since 2010, Hermès has launched thirteen leather workshops in France. The upcoming Colombelles facility will be its 27th in the country.
