Italy’s tanning industry has begun negotiations for the renewal of its national collective labour agreement, which expired on June 30, 2026. The talks involve Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl, Uiltec Uil and UNIC, representing more than 17,000 workers across nearly 900 companies.
The first negotiating meeting was held on 8 September 2026 in Milan between the trade unions negotiating delegation and representatives of UNIC.
The trade unions reiterated their demands covering both employment conditions and wages. For the 3 year period from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029, they are seeking an average total monthly wage increase of €230 at the D2 level.
The main points of the negotiating platform include restoring workers purchasing power, training and reskilling employees and revising the job classification system.
The unions are also calling for greater attention to work life balance and working hours, health and safety, industrial relations and strengthening the bilateral observatory by giving it economic resources.
The union representatives said the new national agreement should support the transformation of the sector while ensuring good quality and qualified employment.
