Kenya Leather Development Council Seeks Investors for its Leather Industrial Park

The Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) has invited both local and international investors to apply for investment opportunities at the Kenya Leather Industrial Park (KLIP) in Kinanie, Machakos County, as the country steps up efforts to strengthen its leather manufacturing industry.

The 100 acre industrial park is one of Kenya’s flagship projects under the government’s Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). It aims to position the country as a regional hub for leather and leather products manufacturing by offering investors a dedicated industrial zone with shared infrastructure, including a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP).

KLDC is seeking investors across 9 categories, including large, medium and small scale tanneries, leather products manufacturing, micro and small enterprises and auxiliary industries such as leather chemicals, footwear accessories, cutting dies, lasts, machinery repairs and spare parts.

Depending on the category, investors can apply for industrial warehouses or plots ranging from 0.7 acres to 5 acres.

According to the council, the park is designed to provide a competitive business environment while encouraging sustainable manufacturing, value addition, export growth and the adoption of international environmental standards.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, subject to the availability of investment space. Interested investors must demonstrate the required technical, commercial and financial capacity and meet the occupation criteria set by KLDC.

Applications can be submitted electronically to klip@leathercouncil.go.ke or delivered to the Kenya Leather Development Council’s headquarters in Nairobi.
