Kyrgyzstan is building a tannery with a capacity of up to 1,000 hides per day in the Chuy region. The Cabinet of Ministers said the Asyl Teri facility is expected to create at least 60 jobs.
The plant is being developed in the Chuy Agro Industrial Zone located in the Ysyk Ata district of northern Kyrgyzstan.
Bakyt Torobaev Special Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic for Special Assignments inspected construction progress at the Chuy Agro Industrial Zone in the Ysyk Ata district on October 15.
The plant is expected to introduce modern production technologies and wastewater treatment systems. According to Trend News Agency the project aims to increase the production of value added leather products and expand Kyrgyzstan’s export potential.
The facility is also intended to support hide processing across all regions of the country rather than limiting operations to a single area.
During the visit Torobaev instructed the officials responsible for the project to ensure construction is completed on time and meets the required quality standards, but they did not specify anything about the project’s expected completion date, investment or investor.
