The Lagos State Government has confirmed that its much-anticipated industrial leather hub located in Matori, Mushin will be officially launched in the second quarter of 2025.
This update was given by Mr Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, during the 2025 Lagos State Ministerial Press Briefing held in Ikeja.
The event was part of activities marking Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second year in office during his second term.
The commissioner shared that the leather hub is a key part of the state’s broader strategy to build infrastructure that generates employment and supports local businesses.

He added that the hub will support artisans and entrepreneurs operating in the leather sector by offering them access to tools, training, and business support.
In addition to this project, the ministry has been working to empower residents through various job-creation and training initiatives. One of the notable programmes is the Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP), which onboarded 2,383 graduates for internships.
