Mauro Bergozza Elected as New President of Assomac

The Italian manufacturing industry is entering a new era with the appointment of Mauro Bergozza as the president of Assomac, the association representing Italian manufacturers of machinery for tannery, footwear, and leather goods.

Bergozza, formerly the vice president of Assomac, takes over the leadership from Maria Vittoria Brustia, who has successfully guided the association in recent years.

The announcement was made on November 29, 2024, during the Assomac General Assembly meeting held at the Mudec – Museum of Cultures in Milan.

This election also saw Cristiano Paccagnella, general manager of Omac s.r.l., retained as vice president, alongside Massimo Angeleri, CEO of Officina Meccanica Angeleri s.r.l., who was appointed as a new vice president.

Who is Mauro Bergozza?

Born in 1962 in Arzignano, Vicenza, Mauro Bergozza represents the second generation at the helm of Bergi S.p.A., a family-owned business renowned for its tannery machinery.

With his brothers, Bergozza oversees the company’s commercial and financial operations, blending innovation with tradition to maintain a competitive edge.

Bergozza’s affiliation with Assomac dates back to 1996, during which he has taken on numerous leadership roles. His extensive experience in the industry and commitment to advancing the sector make him a natural choice for this pivotal position.

In his acceptance speech, Bergozza emphasized the pressing need for unity and strategic growth in the manufacturing sector. He highlighted the importance of networking and representation in navigating the challenges posed by the global market.

“We live in an era of great challenges for the manufacturing sector, in which networking and creating a strong representation are imperative necessities,”

Bergozza stated

The new president outlined several key objectives for his tenure:

  • Strengthening Technological Identity:
    Bergozza stressed the importance of investing in research, innovation, and sustainability to enhance the sector’s global competitiveness.
  • Promoting Made in Italy:
    He reiterated his commitment to showcasing Italian craftsmanship and technology as the epitome of quality and reliability.
  • Setting Common Standards:
    The focus will also be on developing industry standards that ensure quality, safety, and environmental sustainability.
  • Building Strategic Alliances:
    Collaboration at the national and European levels will be crucial to support member companies in transitioning to advanced production models.
