A 54 year old worker was found dead outside a private tannery in the Melvisharam area of Ranipet on Friday 26 December 2025 according to The New Indian Express.

The deceased was identified as Raja a resident of the Kathiyavadi Koot Road area. He had gone to work on Friday morning after being called in for duty by the factory.

Within a few hours of reporting to work the factory management informed Raja’s family that he had died.

Family members alleged that the management placed Raja’s body outside the factory locked the premises and left without informing them.

Following this Raja’s relatives staged a road blockade in front of the factory claiming there was mystery surrounding his death.

They alleged that Raja may have died under suspicious circumstances and demanded a thorough investigation. The family also sought clarity on whether exposure to any poisonous gas inside the factory could have caused his death.
