TFL Appoints Dr Volker Rabe as New Head of Business Development and Industry Relations

TFL, a global leader in specialty chemicals for the leather and related industries, has announced a major leadership change. Dr Volker Rabe has been appointed as the new Head of New Business Development and Industry Relations, succeeding Dr Dietrich Tegtmeyer, who retired on October 1, 2024.

Dr Volker Rabe’s deep connection to the leather industry dates back to his childhood. His family owned and operated a tannery for over 130 years, giving him firsthand experience with the craft and challenges of leather production.

Professionally, Dr Rabe has been with TFL and its predecessor companies since 2012, holding various key positions. His academic background is equally impressive. After earning a PhD in Chemistry in 2009, he gained valuable experience at FILK, a renowned research institute, where he worked for two years before joining TFL.

Dr Rabe’s commitment to the industry extends beyond his role at TFL. He actively participates in several industry committees and, earlier this year, was appointed Chairman of the IUR Research Commission of the IULTCS. His leadership in these roles highlights his expertise and passion for advancing the leather sector.

With Dr Rabe at the helm, TFL is set to strengthen its partnerships and innovation in the leather industry. His blend of traditional industry knowledge and scientific expertise is expected to drive new growth opportunities and sustainability initiatives.

This leadership transition marks a new chapter for TFL, ensuring continued support for the leather industry through innovation, collaboration, and responsible practices.
