More than 200 industry stakeholders and local media attended an Italian leather industry event held on 2 July at the Consulate General of Italy in Madrid. Organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the event highlighted Italy’s leather industry and leather processing technology sector while strengthening ties with the Spanish market.
The event brought together institutions, companies, industry stakeholders and media to promote the Italian leather value chain, from leather production to processing technologies.
Representing the Italian supply chain, Fulvia Bacchi of UNIC – Concerie Italiane and Agostino Apolito of Assomac shared a unified vision for the sector. The programme also featured a presentation by international fashion advisor Orietta Pelizzari.
According to Assomac, the strong turnout reflected the Spanish market’s growing interest in Italian leather and leather processing technologies and reinforced Italy’s position as a global leader in quality, innovation and industrial development.
“Italy and Spain represent one of the main manufacturing ecosystems of the European leather, footwear and leather goods supply chain. In a complex economic phase, the real challenge is not to fuel internal competition between our countries, but to strengthen strategic cooperation capable of preserving European leadership.”
– Agostino Apolito, General Manager, Assomac
The event also highlighted the role of Lineapelle and Simac Tanning Tech as key international trade fair platforms for business development, innovation and global cooperation across the leather supply chain.
Simac Tanning Tech and Lineapelle are scheduled to take place from 15 to 17 September 2026 at Fiera Milano Rho.
