According to official data released by the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) the leather goods and leather garment industry delivered mixed results in the first half of 2025.
This follows the earlier reports Chinese Leather Industry Exports Drop 7.8% to $43.2 Billion in First Half of 2025 and Chinese Footwear Industry Exports 4.5 Billion Pairs Worth 21.7 Billion Dollars in First Half of 2025.
Leather goods recorded sales revenue of RMB 53.0 billion, a drop of 2.5% compared with last year.
Exports of goods that include bags and cases reached $15.9 billion, down 11.2% year-on-year, while imports stood at $2.54 billion, falling 14.8%.
In contrast the leather garment segment showed stronger domestic sales. Leather garment companies posted sales revenue of RMB 3.0 billion, rising 12.6% compared with the same period last year.
However exports totaled only $48.7 million, a decline of 14.5%, while imports came in at $49.3 million, down 9.8%.
The figures highlight how China’s leather industry continues to experience uneven performance across product categories.
