Bangladesh Leather and Leather Footwear Exports Rise 5.95% to $988 Million in First 10 Months of FY2025-26

Bangladesh’s leather, leather products and leather footwear exports increased 5.95% year-on-year to $988.06 million during the July 2025 to April 2026 period, according to data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

During the same period, Bangladesh’s total merchandise exports declined 2.02% to $39.4 billion from $40.2 billion a year earlier.

Bangladesh’s leather, leather products and leather footwear exports increased 5.95% year-on-year to $988.06 million during the July 2025 to April 2026 period and during the same period last year, exports from the sector stood at $932.53 million, showing an increase of $55.53 million.

Leather footwear continued to remain the largest export category within the sector by value. Exports under reached $551.84 million during July-April FY2025-26 compared to $545.35 million in the same period last year, registering a 1.19% increase.

Leather products emerged as the fastest-growing segment during the period. Exports from the category rose 17.28% year-on-year to $327.87 million from $279.57 million in the previous year.

Leather exports remained largely flat. Exports from the category increased 0.7% year-on-year to $108.36 million during July-April FY2025-26 compared to $107.61 million in the same period last year.

In contrast, Bangladesh’s other footwear exports excluding leather footwear declined 1.98% year-on-year during the 10-month period. Exports from the category fell to $437.38 million during July 2025-April 2026 from $446.21 million in the same period last year, marking a decline of $8.83 million.

Data from the EPB also showed that Bangladesh’s leather, leather products and leather footwear exports had reached $1.15 billion during the full FY2024-25 period.

During FY2024-25, leather footwear exports stood at $672.07 million, making it the largest contributor to the sector’s export earnings. Leather products exports reached $344.79 million, while leather exports totaled $128.21 million during the fiscal year.

Other footwear exports excluding leather footwear stood at $522.59 million during FY2024-25.
