The International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS) has selected Italy to host the IULTCS World Congress 2029 after its Executive Committee unanimously approved the country’s bid. The decision was made following a formal vote by the committee.
The proposal was presented by Tomaso Pellegrini, recently elected President of the Italian Association of Leather Chemists (AICC). It highlighted Italy’s internationally recognised leather sector, its integrated leather value chain and a congress programme focused on innovation, sustainability, circular economy and digital transformation.
The proposal also includes technical visits to leading Italian leather districts along with opportunities for scientific and industrial collaboration.
The 2029 Congress will coincide with the 125th anniversary of AICC, marking more than a century of contributions to leather science and technology.
Following the presentation, the Executive Committee held a formal vote. With 20 voting members present, the proposal received unanimous approval.
“We are honoured by the confidence placed in AICC and the Italian leather community. We look forward to welcoming colleagues from around the world and delivering a congress that promotes scientific excellence, innovation and international cooperation.”
