China’s leather garment exports reached $38.60 million between January – April 2026, an increase of 42.8% compared with the same period last year, according to the latest data released by the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA).
The latest figures show that the sector exported $5.10 million worth of leather garments in April 2026 alone, after exports reached $33.50 million during the first quarter of the year.
Leather garment imports totalled $42.9 million between January – April 2026, up 31.5% YoY basis.
Imports during April 2026 stood at $8.93 million, compared with $34.02 million recorded during the first quarter.
The latest trade data showed that both exports and imports of China’s leather garment sector continued to record strong year-over-year growth during the January to April period.
Overall, if you see, China’s leather industry, which includes the leather, footwear, leather garments, bags and cases sectors, recorded exports worth $25.4 billion and imports of $5.15 billion between January – April 2026, exports declined 6.5% year-on-year, while imports increased 4.3%.
