Assomac Signs Training Agreement with Egypt’s LTTC at SIMAC Tanning Tech to Strengthen Robbiki Leather City

Around 90% of the technology at Robbiki Leather City is Made in Italy as Assomac signs a training agreement with Egypt’s LTTC to strengthen the district’s competitiveness and global integration.

Assomac has signed an agreement with Egypt’s Leather Technology Training Centre (LTTC) at SIMAC Tanning Tech in Milan to develop joint training programmes for technicians and young professionals and conduct research into new tanning processes and sustainable chemicals as part of Italy’s broader effort to modernise the Robbiki Leather City tanning district.

The agreement builds on a €6 million Italian Cooperation programme supporting the development of Robbiki Leather City through infrastructure, training, technology transfer, technical assistance and skills development.

Around 90% of the technology currently used in the production workshops at Robbiki Leather City is Made in Italy.

At SIMAC Tanning Tech 2026 Assomac hosted an Egyptian business and institutional delegation for a Study Tour focused on the leather and footwear supply chain and related technologies. The delegation included representatives from Egypt’s Ministry of Industry, the Leather Technology Training Centre and Cairo for Investment and Development.

The initiative will continue with a second phase dedicated to the development of footwear production at Robbiki Leather City with the aim of creating a dedicated footwear manufacturing area and expanding growth and integration opportunities across the supply chain.
