COTANCE has confirmed a key leadership transition with the appointment of Edoardo De Paola as Deputy Secretary General ahead of his move into the top role in April 2026.

The decision was welcomed by members following the recent Statute Reform approval in Milan during Lineapelle. The transition is aimed at ensuring continuity in leadership at a time when the European leather sector is navigating structural and market changes.

De Paola will assume full responsibilities as Secretary General from April 2026. The organisation views the move as part of its broader effort to strengthen governance and operational stability.

“I am an Italian national and a European citizen. While my proximity may make it more immediate for me to engage with the Italian membership I am fully conscious that this mandate entrusts me with representing a broad and diverse European membership.”

– Edoardo De Paola, Deputy Secretary General, COTANCE

The appointment comes at a time when industry bodies are under increasing pressure to address challenges linked to sustainability, traceability, innovation, skills and global competitiveness.

“I am committed to safeguarding the interest of COTANCE’s members and the plurality of voices that shape its common position.”

– Edoardo De Paola, Deputy Secretary General, COTANCE

With De Paola preparing to step into the role, COTANCE is signalling stability and leadership continuity as it expands its scope and representation across the European leather ecosystem.
